Welcome to Troika Editions |
8th March 2010 |
|
This week we are delighted to announce the arrival of our new Books section and to offer you an opportunity to buy limited edition books by Troika Editions artist Jan von Holleben. Browse through the titles and click on see inside or the title page to have a look at the first few pages of each book. Since we launched last year we have received a lot of feedback about the site and having listened to the observations and of course congratulated ourselves on your comments about how great the site looks and the wonderful art we are presenting, we started to pay attention to some of the detail of what you were saying. One common theme was that it was difficult to see the work by one artist so we have improved the navigation. If you click on any photograph you will now be presented with an artist box in the middle of the right hand column, which shows all their work. When you click on the view option in the box you can see the artist’s work as larger images. As part of this new function it is also possible to see the entire Troika Editions collection of photography as a larger image. By clicking on any picture you will see a previous and next button, which will enable you to browse all the art at the larger display size. We hope you will enjoy browsing through our new Book section and will find the site easier to use. If you have any comments or suggestions please let us know by going to our contact page. |

Jan von HollebenDreams of Flying: Volume 2 In the second volume of his celebrated series "Dreams of Flying", Jan explores childhood fantasies. The desire to fly, become superman or a pirate sailing on the high seas are all reconstructed with the help of neighbourhood children and ordinary household objects. In this world of make believe, rubbish bins become the skyscrapers of Manhattan, vacuum cleaners are transformed into ghost busting weapons and scuba diving flippers turn children into butterflies. |

We Recommend: Don McCullinIf you missed last year's retrospective of the irascible Don McCullin at the National Museum of Film and Photography then there is an opportunity to see it until 13th June 2010 at the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. Without doubt one of the greatest war and conflict photographers of the Twentieth Century, McCullin's work shows how the aesthetic in photojournalism can enhance the message rather than supersede it. |
